ROCHECHOUART.- To mark its 40th anniversary, the Musée d’art contemporain de la Haute-Vienne—Château de Rochechouart is celebrating with a group exhibition including some of the most emblematic works in its collection.

Opened in 1985 at the initiative of the Conseil général de la Haute-Vienne in the prestigious Château de Rochechouart, the museum has set itself apart through a continuous dialogue between contemporary art and historical heritage.

Three fundamental themes have prevailed in the composition of its collection: history, landscape and the imaginary. Over the years, the museum has built up a remarkable collection that today includes more than 2,200 works by artists of international renown.

A sample of this collection is presented here, through works that have marked the history of the museum and its programming, sometimes rarely exhibited. Several loans and a new long-term loan from the Centre national des arts plastiques complete the display and enrich the presentation, opening up new perspectives on the collection.

With: Alighiero e Boetti, Pauline Boudry & Renate Lorenz, Carolina Caycedo, Tony Cragg, Tacita Dean, Luciano Fabro, Simone Fattal, Bernard Frize, John Giorno, Raoul Hausmann, Joëlle de La Casinière, Bertrand Lavier, Christiane Löhr, Lou Masduraud, Anthony McCall, Annette Messager, Gabriel Orozco, Lydia Ourahmane, Giuseppe Penone, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Sigmar Polke, Laure Prouvost, Gerhard Richter, Ugo Rondinone, Anne-Marie Schneider, Thomas Schütte, P.
