Selected 20/21: Artcurial to offer Modern & Contemporary Art
Alexander Calder (1898-1976), Cock’s comb, 1961. Estimate: 300 000 – 500 000 €.

PARIS.- The Selected 20/21 auction will gather a curated selection of masterpieces, chosen to highlight the vitality and diversity of modern and contemporary artistic creation.

Among the highlights of this second edition will be Cock’s Comb (1961) by Alexander Calder (estimate: €300,000 – 500,000), a painted sheet metal sculpture that embodies the light and poetic power of the American artist’s celebrated stabiles.

Alongside it, Marc Chagall’s rare canvas Maternité sur fond bleu (1976) (estimate: €460,000 – 560,000) will unfold the lyrical dimension of the artist’s pictorial language.

The auction will also feature a major triptych by Jean Hélion, titled Le Jugement dernier des choses (estimate: €300,000 – 600,000), a powerful testimony to the artist’s modernity in the 1970s, as well as a bronze by Pierre Soulages, a painting by Fernando Botero, and works by leading names such as Simon Hantaï, Robert Combas, Serge Poliakoff, and Tom Wesselmann.

As a true showcase of artistic excellence from the 20th and 21st centuries, Selected 20/21 is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated auctions of the Paris season by collectors worldwide.

During the Art Basel Paris week, the Hôtel Marcel Dassault will transform into a vibrant space of discovery, with a program of exhibitions designed to highlight the major events of the week.

In addition to the Selected 20/21 exhibition, collectors will also have the opportunity to discover, ahead of their sale, the key works from the upcoming December auctions of Modern and Contemporary Art.

A truly remarkable collection of works offered at auction on December 9th, bringing together major names of the 20th and 21st century art, including Auguste Rodin, Alberto Giacometti, Arman, and Daniel Buren.

For the second consecutive year, the French Center of Design will present French Collection, Art & Design, an exhibition showcasing unique works of art and design that embody the dynamism of contemporary creativity and the richness of the French decorative arts.

Together, these exhibitions will enrich the Selected 20/21 experience, offering collectors and art lovers an exceptional immersion at the crossroads of art, design, and fine craftsmanship during the week of Art Basel Paris.
