Academy Museum elects Anla Cheng to Board of Trustees
Anla Cheng is the Chair, Founder, and CEO of Serica Initiative, LLC, whose mission is to amplify AAPI Voices.



LOS ANGELES, CA.- The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures today announced the election of Anla Cheng to its Board of Trustees.

As the governing body of the Academy Museum, the board leads the museum toward a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, in addition to securing adequate resources to advance the museum’s mission.

“We are delighted to welcome Anla Cheng to the Academy Museum Board of Trustees,” said Academy Museum Director and President Amy Homma. “Her vision and dedication to the art and education of cinema will help guide the museum into an exciting, successful future.”

Board of Trustees members as of October 24, 2025 include Chair Olivier de Givenchy, Vice-Chair Dr. Eric Esrailian, Secretary Patricia Bellinger Balzer, Treasurer Jim Gianopulos, Arnaud Boetsch, Effie T. Brown (honorary trustee), Tom Dolby, Sidonie Seydoux Dumas, Sid Ganis (honorary trustee), Cindy Huang, Julia S. Gouw, Ray Halbritter, Tom Hanks, Amy Homma, Lynette Howell Taylor, Travis Knight, Simon Kilmurry, Bill Kramer, Miky Lee, Eva Longoria, Hiro Matsuoka, Ryan Murphy, Katherine L. Oliver, Alejandro Ramírez Magaña, Jason Reitman, Shira Ruderman, Ted Sarandos, Teddy Schwarzman, Regina K. Scully, Kimberly Steward, Kim Taylor-Coleman, and Kevin Yeaman.

Anla Cheng is the Chair, Founder, and CEO of Serica Initiative, LLC, whose mission is to amplify AAPI Voices. Anla’s career includes work at Goldman Sachs, as Asia Institutional Division Head at Robert Fleming, and at Citi as Asian Portfolio Manager for both the Institutional and Private Wealth Group. Then, she founded and ran Centenium Capital Partners, an Asia Hedge Fund of Funds. Ms. Cheng received her MBA from the Wharton Graduate School of Business.

She is the Vice Chair of The Nature Conservancy Asia Pacific Council and Vice Chair of The China Institute. She also founded and served as the CEO of SupChina and The China Project. She is a past Trustee and current member of Committee of 100; past Chair of Facing History; past Global Council member of Brookings; and past member of the Columbia University Global Council, China. She is also a former Trustee of MOCA; the Riverdale Country Day School; The Browning School; and the New York Community Trust.
