PARIS.- Christie's announced Mathilde & Friends in Paris. At the heart of this sale and exhibition, Mathilde Favier – a sparkling figure on the international fashion scene and Parisian at heart – draws us into a whirlwind of elegance, mischief, and refinement, the secrets of which she alone holds. From January 26 to February 4, cherished objects, iconic outfits, poetic charms, and unexpected treasures will reveal Mathilde's intimate world online at christies.com: a world woven from encounters, friendships, joyful discoveries, and delightfully unique objects. Discerning collectors and lovers of Paris alike will find one of her mantras here: Parisian chic is never about means, but about allure.

As the head of public relations for one of Paris's most iconic fashion houses, Mathilde carries a piece of the heritage that makes the capital one of the most admired cities in the world. She embodies, day after day, the subtle myth of the Parisian woman – a rare combination of chic, wit, and elegance that is inseparable from the city's identity.

Raised from childhood with an appreciation for beauty and surrounded by artists and refined personalities such as Madeleine Castaing, Mathilde Favier performs this role with radiant kindness and gentle humor. Creative and inexhaustible, Paris continues to surprise her every day.

It was in this spirit, guided by her infectious joy, that she conceived her book Mathilde in Paris, a sensitive and poetic stroll through the city. In its pages, we meet actors, painters, Michelin-starred chefs, fashion designers, interior designers, and models – a vibrant tribute to the inhabitants of Paris, whom she observes with passion and affection. In this international success, Mathilde generously shares her vision of the Paris she loves: a way of life shaped by secret places, confidences, encounters and personal stories.

The Mathilde & Friends in Paris sale will open on January 26, offering a glimpse into her world. Visitors will discover an irresistible selection of personal items, gifted or created by her loved ones – Julie de Libran, Jacques Grange, Constance Rubini – as well as works by artists she admires, including Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne, Janine Janet, Mario Buccellati, Alice Gavalet and Jean Dunand. The Galerie du Passage will unveil pieces chosen for their unique poetry and their dialogue with Mathilde's universe. Together, they sketch an intimate map of her many affections for creators from around the world. Among the highlights are the chintz sofa featured on the cover of her book (€2,000-3,000), a pair of armchairs embroidered with beads from the Compagnie du Sénégal et de l'Afrique de l'Ouest (€2,000-3,000) and works by Ettore Sottsass, Michael Anastassiades and Oscar and Anna Niemeyer.

Tableware, dear to her heart, will also be in the spotlight, with sets designed by Félix Bracquemond (€5,000-7,000) and Rosenthal (€2,000-3,000). And because Mathilde would not be Mathilde without a touch of fashion, the sale will also include pieces from her wardrobe: creations by Yves Saint Laurent, a Chanel ensemble gifted by Karl Lagerfeld, and of course Dior (EUR 1,000-2,000), accompanied by jewelry by Claude Lalanne, JAR and Boucheron. Guided by this sensibility and her admiration for the great names of fashion, a selection of works from the legendary collection of Pierre Berge and Yves Saint Laurent courtesy of Terry de Gunzburg, will also be presented.

Mathilde Favier: “This sale is an opportunity for me to share all the positive and caring energy that the publication of my book has generated. How lucky I am! The idea is to bring together friends and family around a shared vision of Paris and of beauty, to create a joyful project.

Christie's immediately won me over; they understood the idea right away. This is not just a simple auction, but a sale of the soul – one that will bring us together to start 2026 with beautiful energy, joy and the sharing of beauty!”

The exhibition design was entrusted to a close friend, Tatiana de Nicolay. An illustrator and watercolorist, and a regular at Christie's auctions, she brings to life here her poetic universe – one inspired by her travels and already shared with iconic houses of Parisian creativity such as Assouline and Diptyque. “It is an honor to collaborate once again with Christie's, and a great joy to design the scenography for this very special sale. Working alongside Mathilde, whom I deeply admire, is always a source of inspiration. Her cheerfulness, energy and unique ability to unite her friends around creative projects infuse Paris with a rare and precise vitality.”

With Mathilde & Friends in Paris, Christie's is delighted to once again pay tribute to a style icon, as it has done in the past with the wardrobes of Catherine Deneuve and Zizi Jeanmaire in Paris, the personal belongings of André Leon Talley and Iris Apfel in New York, and the creations of Vivienne Westwood in London. Mathilde & Friends in Paris thus continues the story of taste that is written every day at Christie's.
