PARIS.- 2025 was marked by strong results for Artcurial, with total sales reaching €208.5 million, including €15.2 million generated by the Swiss auction house Artcurial Beurret Bailly Widmer, representing a 12% increase compared to 2024.

A total of 19 lots sold for over €1 million, and 35 price records were set. Among these, David and Goliath by Guido Reni—sold in collaboration with Millon et Associés—was hammered down at €12,386,600. Roaring Stag Followed by a Doe and Her Fawn by Rembrandt Bugatti, which achieved €1,079,600, also set a world record for a cervid sculpture by the artist.

Overall, Artcurial organised 106 auctions, including 34 online sales. The auction house dispersed 123 private collections, notably the Renault Icons collection, which realised €11,630,841 with 100% of lots sold.

In addition, 66 lots were pre-empted or acquired by public and museum institutions, including Les Plongeurs (1942) by Fernand Léger, purchased for €203,360 by the Fernand Léger Museum in Biot.

Artcurial Strengthens Its Management Team

In 2025, Artcurial also reinforced its executive team with the appointment of several Vice Presidents, reflecting the strategic importance of its key departments. Isaure de Viel Castel, with over twenty years of experience in European and Asian markets, joined the House as Vice President in charge of the 20th Century departments. Stéphane Aubert, auctioneer and Director of the Inventories & Collections department, as well as Matthieu Fournier, auctioneer and Director of the Old Masters & 19th Century department, were also appointed Vice Presidents.

On the Artcurial Motorcars side, Matthieu Lamoure and Pierre Novikoff were appointed President and Vice President, respectively, strengthening the leadership of a department that has become an international benchmark in the field of collector cars. These appointments confirm Artcurial’s commitment to relying on experienced executives to support its development in France and internationally.

Highlights

Among the highlights of the year, several events left a particularly strong mark on Artcurial. On April 30th in Paris, the sale Entre Ciel & Terre – Masterpieces from a French Collection was a great success, notably with Pieter Brueghel the Younger’s La moisson, Allégorie de l'Eté, which achieved €2,902,400.

On June 12th, Artcurial had the honor of hosting the handover of the original manuscript of the Appeal of 18th June to the French National Archives by the grandchildren of General de Gaulle.

To mark the centenary of the birth of Philippe Hiquily, a cultural exhibition was organized in Paris in September, in collaboration with the Hiquily Committee. It presented an overview of the artist’s work in dialogue with Sepik artifacts and objects from the Kanak people, both of which were dear to the artist.

In October, alongside Art Basel, the Selected 20/21 sale brought together numerous collectors and enthusiasts of modern and contemporary art. On this occasion, a set of two bronzes by Alberto Giacometti was sold for €2,189,600.

Finally, in December, Artcurial organized the world’s first Haute pâtisserie auction, in collaboration with Pierre Hermé, bringing together 25 pastry chefs committed to supporting children, combining gastronomy and solidarity.

The Artcurial Group

In 2025, the Artcurial Group, the European leader in the intermediation of exceptional assets, achieved a record consolidated turnover of €1.75 billion, bringing together three complementary entities: Artcurial, John Taylor, a specialist in luxury real estate, and Arqana, the leading auction house for thoroughbred horses.

The John Taylor Group further strengthened its leading position with the opening of new agencies in Marseille, Cyprus, Nyon, and Saint Barthélemy, as well as a strategic re-establishment in Geneva. A new agency was also opened within the La Mamounia hotel in Marrakech, while expansion in the Middle East continues.
