NEW YORK, NY.- Martos Gallery will present a focused selection of works by Keith Haring at BRAFA Art Fair 2026, bringing together important examples from the early 1980s through the late 1980s. The presentation of more than twenty works spans the breadth of Haring’s practice and emphasizes movement, performance, and the activation of unconventional surfaces.

The works presented at BRAFA highlight Haring’s radical approach to drawing and painting as acts of immediacy and public address. Executed across materials including paper, Plexiglas, vinyl, wood, metal, and found objects, these works demonstrate the artist’s belief that no surface was inert. Each became a site for transformation, where line functioned as both gesture and language.

Central to this presentation are works from the early 1980s, a period during which Haring developed his instantly recognizable iconography through subway drawings and works on plastic and paper. These compositions retain the speed and urgency of their making, conveying suspended motion, gravity defied, and bodies in perpetual circulation. Later works from the mid to late 1980s expand this vocabulary through increased scale, color saturation, and formal complexity, reflecting Haring’s growing engagement with political, social, and spiritual themes.

Haring’s practice consistently blurred distinctions between drawing and performance, private gesture and public spectacle. Whether rendered in sumi ink, marker, spray enamel, or acrylic, his images continue to project a sense of vitality that transcends their material support. The works presented at BRAFA underscore Haring’s mastery of line and composition while reaffirming his commitment to accessibility, joy, and direct communication.

Keith Haring’s work remains deeply relevant today, not only for its visual immediacy but for its insistence on art as a shared experience. Martos Gallery’s presentation at BRAFA situates these works within a broader understanding of Haring’s legacy as an artist who transformed everyday surfaces into sites of collective meaning and enduring energy.
