BIRMINGHAM, UK.- The Barber Institute of Fine Arts at University of Birmingham presents The Currency of Femininity: Women on Coins, on view through January 17, 2008. The stories of twelve extraordinary women of immense power and influence goddesses, regents, and empresses lie behind this display, drawn from the Barbers collection of some 16,000 coins. This is the first in a series highlighting specific themes and spanning several historical eras, which aims to bring more of these treasures to a wider audience.
