WILLESDEN GREEN, NW.- The Federation of British Artists Education Department is excited to announce the launch of U Cre8s first group exhibition in their home borough of Brent. The exhibition at The Gallery (based at Willesden Green Library Centre) marks the second phase of a project aimed at inspiring young people who are considered at risk of being marginalised and excluded. The show aims to give participants a flavour of what its like to show their own artwork before taking part in a show in central London at the Mall Galleries opening on the 10th July 2007.
The show will take place on an outside wall of The Gallery from the 14th to 30th March 2007, with work focussing on themes of identity surrounding youth image. Participants will select work from their own printmaking workshops to celebrate their notion of self image and what youth is or can be.
U Cre8 was designed to inspire young people (5-18) considered at risk to engage in the visual arts. The project, run by the Federation of British Artists (FBA) and Mall Galleries Education Department, works in partnership with a Stag Lane Pupil Referral Unit and the Children's Support Panel in the London Borough of Brent. This project is made possible by kind donation by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
