CAMBRIDGE.- From April 2026-March 2027, Wysing brings together artists who are attuned to the social and material conditions that shape everyday life, addressing topics that include circular economies, ecologies, radical accessibility, labour, play, and community action.

Louise Ashcroft (UK, in partnership with DASH), Mariana Chkonia (Georgia), Roo Dhissou (UK), Va-Bene Elikem Fiatsi (Ghana, in partnership with LADA), Clara Hastrup (UK), Pardip Kapil (UK), Samra Mayanja (UK), Umico Niwa (US/Mexico), RESOLVE Collective (UK), and Ellie Wyatt (UK, in partnership with St Peter’s School Huntingdon and DASH). Bella Millroy (UK) continues as Wysing’s PhD researcher-in-residence.

Throughout the year Wysing will work with RESOLVE collective as part of the first Systems Residency, sharing approaches that foster equitable, sustainable environments.

For its second iteration, Wysing’s Donna Lynas Residency partners with Edinburgh Art Festival, John Hansard Gallery and New Contemporaries to support an artist across three years, from 2027.

Our collaboration with Fluxus Art Projects as part of their Magnetic Residencies programme invites a Bordeaux-based artist to Wysing in winter 2026; meanwhile, a new Home-Based Future Curator (in partnership with DASH) examines collective thinking and solidarity through home-based and digital curating. For the third year, Knotenpunkt supports selected residencies for artists at critical moments.

Wysing’s 2026-27 residency advisors are Appau Jnr Boakye-Yiadom, Ree Bradley, Hannan Jones and Mira Mann.

Commissions

Wysing’s multidisciplinary commissions emerge from sustained, multi-year commitments to artists.

On Saturday 25 April, Wysing unveils commissions by Appau Jnr Boakye-Yiadom, Hannan Jones, Shamica Ruddock and Tai Shani. This includes a new permanent sculpture by Tai Shani, Symphonic Flame, and Appau Jnr Boakye-Yiadom's Fox Road, which transforms the exterior of our Brooks Building for the next year.

Over Summer, Folke Köbberling will revisit Amphis, made in 2008 with Martin Kaltwasser (1965–2022). Through collective making and wildlife research, Amphis will transform into a new sculptural habitat and social space. Samra Mayanja will develop a new commission that continues her work across performance, installation, film and writing.

Young people

Our first young people's artist in residence, Louise Ashcroft (in partnership with DASH), will lead a series of sensory workshops on the theme of hoaxes. Louise will also work with Wysing’s Creative Youth Council (supported by John Armitage Charitable Trust), which brings together 14–18-year-olds for monthly artist-led, collaborative projects. Ellie Wyatt joins as Wysing’s fifth St Peters School Residency Artist, and in the Autumn our annual Youth Fest returns.

Syllabus IX

Syllabus (supported by Freelands Foundation) is a ten-month alternative learning programme co-produced by participating artists and Wysing Arts Centre, Eastside Projects (Birmingham), Ps² (Belfast), SITE Gallery (Sheffield), and Studio Voltaire (London). Harun Morrison is Artist Lead for Syllabus IX; ten artists will join the programme in June.

Live programme

Following the completion of our capital project and new visual identity, we’ll re-open our doors on 25 April 2026. Alongside the unveiling of three commissions, the afternoon will include performances by Shenece Oretha, the Cambridge Young Performers Orchestra and Ain Bailey. Our performance and club night Club Urania (a collaboration with Cambridge Junction, and queer organisers in the City) will resume, and in July, our annual Open invites visitors into our vibrant studio community. Further events will be guided by, and in response to, artists Wysing works with.

Site and sustainability

New capital developments across our 14-acre site have created an improved environment for flora, fauna, and people. This includes a rainwater garden, renewable energy systems, biodiverse planting and woodland management, and a fully accessible reception and live/work studio for visiting disabled artists.
