PORTO.- The Serralves Foundation today unveiled the program for the 20th edition of Serralves em Festa, one of the Foundation's flagship initiatives. Taking place this year from May 29 to 31, the festival will once again transform Serralves cultural campus into a nonstop stage for 50 consecutive hours of performances, installations, and artistic activations. Highlights of this milestone edition include gravity-defying tightrope performances by Les Filles du Renard Pâle Company; a rare live set from legendary Detroit-based electronic music group Cybotron; a special concert from You Origin (Stephen O'Malley and Alponom), and a performance by Italian choreographer Alessandro Sciarroni, recipient of the Venice Biennales Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.
Since its first edition in 2004, Serralves em Festa has sought to present avant-garde culture in its most diverse and multifaceted expressions to a wide audience. By attracting visitors from all backgrounds, geographies, and generations, the celebratory festival unites artists and people who love the arts through boundless experimentation.
Serralves em Festa has built an international reputation for its boldly eclectic program, drawing more than a quarter million visitors each year. Spanning music, dance, theater, film, and the visual and performing arts, the festival is celebrated for its inventive use of the Serralves campus, which includes the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, the 45-acre Serralves Park, the Art Deco Serralves Villa, and the Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira.
Carina Bastos, Serralves Communication Director, said: Serralves em Festa has established itself as a unique project on both the national and international stage, thanks to its ability to make contemporary creation accessible to ever broader audiences, to attract and cultivate new publics, and to position itself as space where artists and communities meet within the singular context of Serralves. Twenty editions later, it continues to demonstrate that contemporary art, in all its forms and fields of practice, can be truly accessible, plural, and transformative, bringing together audiences of all ages and backgrounds in a unique celebration of artistic creation.
Highlights of the 2026 Serralves em Festa program include:
Falling Reversely (which debuted at the 2024 Venice Biennale) by interdisciplinary artist Isaac Chong Wai, a large-scale, 7-channel video installation accompanied by live performances that reflect on institutional violence
