BASEL.- Galerie Lelong will present its Art Basel Basel 2026 project, bringing together major twentieth-century artists with celebrated voices in contemporary art today.
This year's presentation will feature works by Etel Adnan, Pierre Alechinsky, Ficre Ghebreyesus, Sarah Grilo, David Hockney, Alfredo Jaar, Hyunsun Jeon, Jannis Kounellis, Nalini Malani, Jaume Plensa, Arnulf Rainer, Alison Saar, Christine Safa, Pinaree Sanpitak, Pamela Phatsimo Sunstrum, Juan Uslé, and Fabienne Verdier.
Reaffirming its commitment to artists who offer a critical perspective on the world, the gallery will present a sculpture by Alison Saar, whose work was recently acquired by the Minneapolis Institute of Art and commissioned by the Obama Foundation in Chicago.
The gallery will also highlight Etel Adnan through a selection of luminous and poetic paintings; Juan Uslé, whose work was recently the focus of a major retrospective at the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid; David Hockney, with a large-scale iPad drawing from his series The Arrival of Spring in Yorkshire; and Arnulf Rainer, who passed away this year and whose works demonstrated an enduring spirit of experimentation and a desire to expand the possibilities of painting beyond conventional representation.
A sculpture by Jaume Plensa will further enrich the presentation. The Catalan artist, whose installation Forgotten Dreams attracted considerable attention in the fairs Unlimited sector in 2025, is currently featured in exhibitions at Carré Sainte-Anne in Montpellier and the Denver Botanic Gardens in Colorado. His work will be exhibited this summer at Museum Küppersmühle in Duisburg and the SOMA Museum in Seoul.
