VENICE.- Kultur | lx - Arts Council Luxembourg, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Casino LuxembourgForum dart contemporain, is launching a call for applications open to curators based in Europe for Luxembourgs participation in the 62nd Venice Biennale. The renowned international contemporary art exhibition will take place from May to November 2028.
By supporting Luxembourgs regular participation in the Venice Biennale, the Ministry of Culture ensures the presence of Luxembourgish artists in one of the most prestigious contemporary art events, thus contributing to the representation of its artistic scene on a global level.
Since 2018, the Luxembourg Pavilion has been presented at the Arsenale, one of the two main venues of the Venice Biennale, thereby benefiting from increased visibility among both the general public and professionals. For the Venice Art Biennale 2028, the organisation of the Luxembourg Pavilion is entrusted to Kultur | lx in cooperation with Casino LuxembourgForum dart contemporain.
The call is open to independent curators and curatorial duos established as a legal entity, residing in Europe, regardless of nationality.
The selection process will follow the schedule below:
July 2, 2026: Launch of the call for applications to select the curator of the Luxembourg Pavilion / September 21, 2026: Deadline for submission of applications / Week commencing September 28, 2026: Selection jury to shortlist candidates for the second round / Week commencing October 5, 2026: Candidates shortlisted for the second round will be announced and sent the specifications as well as the budget guidelines / February 8, 2027: Deadline for submission of projects / Week commencing February 15, 2027: Jury selection / February 22, 2027: Announcement of the winning project.
The Luxembourg Pavilion
The exhibition space of the Luxembourg Pavilion is located in one of the rooms of the Sale dArmi at the historic Arsenale site, which also hosts the International Exhibition and some of the National Pavilions. It extends over 240 square meters. A description of the space is provided in the appendix.

The Commissioning Partners of the Luxembourg Pavilion
The Luxembourg Ministry of Culture has appointed Kultur | lxArts Council Luxembourg as Commissioner of the Luxembourg Pavilion for the 62nd International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia.
The Commissioner is responsible for the organisation, coordination, communication, and programming of the preview (vernissage, opening reception, official programme), and for the budget management of Luxembourgs participation in the Biennale, and more specifically of the exhibition produced for the Luxembourg Pavilion.
Casino LuxembourgForum dart contemporainhas been designated as Organiser by the Ministry of Culture and is thus responsible for the curatorial oversight and realisation of the exhibition. The Organiser will work closely with the winning curator.
