SUDBURY.- This autumn, Gainsborough's House will open three major exhibitions on the same day, bringing together one of Britain's most celebrated contemporary artists, one of the country's most exciting emerging painters, and a long-overdue reassessment of a pioneering printmaker.

Glenn Brown: Anatomy of Trees (8 November 2026 - 18 April 2027)

Gainsborough's House will present the largest UK museum display of work by Glenn Brown CBE in more than a decade, featuring paintings and drawings made over the last 10 years. Inspired by Suffolk's ancient woodlands and the artist's own rural surroundings, the exhibition explores Brown's fascination with trees as living, almost human presences. Works will be displayed throughout both the gallery and historic house, creating a unique dialogue between contemporary art and one of Britain's most important artistic sites.





Georg Wilson: The Ancient Pulse of Germ and Birth (8 November 2026 - 18 April 2027)

One of the most exciting young voices in British painting, Georg Wilson will present a new body of work inspired by Gainsborough's collection, the Suffolk landscape and English folklore. Wilson's paintings challenge traditional depictions of the countryside as a managed, idyllic landscape, instead imagining a world where nature exists beyond human control. Following the rhythm of the seasons and drawing on local flora and fauna, her richly atmospheric works offer a wild and often uncanny vision of the natural world.

Monica Poole: Nature's Dark Beauty (8 November 2026 - 18 April 2027)

This exhibition marks the first UK monographic exhibition dedicated to the wood engravings of Monica Poole in more than 30 years. Bringing together over 20 works, it offers a rare opportunity to explore the achievement of an artist now recognised as one of the most important wood engravers of the 20th century. This show highlights Poole's mastery of the medium and her distinctive ability to create landscapes that are both beautiful and unsettling.
