LONDON.- In celebration of Marilyn Monroes 100th birthday and in association with the Marilyn Monroe estate, the National Portrait Gallery opened Marilyn Monroe: A Portrait on 4 June 2026. Delving into Monroes life, career and legacy, the exhibition explores one of the most famous women of the 20th century through portraits, highlighting the role she played in her own image making, and her inspiration on photographers and artists in her lifetime and long after.
Due to popular demand, additional tickets for Marilyn Monroe: A Portrait have now been released, with late-night extensions until 9pm programmed every Thursday in August. August lates are in addition to the NPGs standard late opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays, providing further opportunities to see the blockbuster exhibition after the Gallerys daytime crowds.
Throughout the duration of Marilyn Monroe: A Portrait, Larrys Bar and The Portrait Restaurant will also serve bespoke drinks and menus inspired by the exhibition, created for the ultimate Marilyn fans, including the award winning Monroe cocktail at Larrys (£16). In the Portrait Restaurant enjoy a bespoke summer bar snacks menu and a glass of Marilyn Monroes champagne of choice, Piper Hiedsieck (£16 a glass). Dining add-ons are available to book with exhibition tickets.
Alongside the Thursday Lates, The Portrait Restaurant are also running a series of events in collaboration with Piper Hiedsieck Champagne, including champagne tastings, exhibition tours and an exclusive tasting menu.
The Gallery is deeply grateful to our Lead Philanthropic Supporter of Marilyn Monroe: A Portrait, the Bern Schwartz Family Foundation, and the exhibition is also generously supported by the Blavatnik Family Foundation. The exhibition has been organised with the support of and in collaboration with the Estate of Marilyn Monroe. The media partner for Marilyn Monroe: A Portrait is The Times and Sunday Times.
