Art for Opera To Be Featured at The Metropolitan Opera |

NEW YORK.- The Arnold and Marie Schwartz Gallery Met, The Metropolitan Opera, will feature new works by John Chamberlain, Chuck Close, Richard Prince, David Salley, Cindy Sherman, Robert Wilson prior to auction.
Original art work inspired by the opera and created by contemporary artists John Chamberlain, Chuck Close, George Condo, Barnaby Furnas, William Kentridge, Guillermo Kuitca, Richard Prince David Salle, Cindy Sherman, Sophie von Hellermann William Wegman and Robert Wilson will be on display from Friday, April 27, through Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at the Arnold and Marie Schwartz Gallery Met at the Metropolitan Opera, Lincoln Center from 10 AM to 11 PM.
Among the works, the exhibition will include two portraits of soprano Renée Fleming -- one by Chuck Close and the other by Robert Wilson.
The six-day exhibition will culminate with a private auction of the artwork, all of which were donated by the artists. Proceeds will help underwrite production costs for the Met Operas 2007-2008 season. Art for Opera is curated by The Arnold & Marie Schwartz Gallery Met Director Dodie Kazanjian.
