YEREVAN, ARMENIA.- The second edition brings together 110 Armenian and international artists and curators for a twelve-day laboratory on the theme of Rituals, ahead of a two-day public festival.

On 20 July 2026 Notations Lab & Festival returned to Yerevan for its second edition. The twelve-day laboratory opened on 20 July with 89 artists selected from an international open call, joined by 21 curators. The lab segues into a two-day public festival on 1–2 August where newly produced works will be showcased.

Notations is created and curated by hosq (հոսք, Armenian for “flow”), the Yerevan-based not-for-profit creative hub dedicated to building infrastructure for interdisciplinary artistic practice; recent member of the European Creative Hubs Network. The 2026 edition is called Rituals and considers them as a practical tool for making something new: structured, repeatable actions that shape our perception of time, space, and each other.

WHEN: Lab, 20–31 July 2026. Festival, 1–2 August 2026.

WHERE: At the Armenian State Philharmonia, the National Gallery of Armenia and Hayfilm.

WHO: 110 participants across 27 countries, selected by the hosq team from the open call that closed on 10 June 2026. 70% are local and regional creatives, including practitioners from Georgia; 30% are international.

Alongside Armenia and Georgia, participants arrive from Austria, China, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Sierra Leone, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, the UK, the US and Uzbekistan.

More than half of the selected artists are women. Most work in music and sound—composition, electronic production, sound art and instrumental practice—followed by visual and media art, performance and dance, research and curatorial practice, and design.

The lab runs with daily collaborative sessions, lectures, workshops, evening jam sessions and a daily ten-minute collective rave, made legendary during the first edition. A field trip to Dilijan is part of the program.

At the first edition in 2025, 82 participants from 9 countries produced 37 new projects comprising concerts, performances and installations; a documentary film, a vinyl release and six digital releases, bringing more than 1,000 visitors to the Armenian State Philharmonia.
