ZURICH.- Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst is strengthening its curatorial team with two new appointments: Christopher Wierling joins the museum in the newly established role of Curator of Exhibitions, while Simon Würsten Marin takes on the position of Curator of Programmes as a parental leave replacement. Bringing different experiences and perspectives, both will expand the museum's curatorial profile and contribute to the further development of its exhibitions and public programmes.
Christopher Wierling joins the museum from Gropius Bau, Berlin, and will contribute his extensive institutional experience to the conceptual and structural development of the museum's exhibition formats. In particular, he will work closely with artists on the development and production of new works, while initiating and curating a range of exhibition projects.

As a parental leave replacement, Simon Würsten Marin assumes the role of Curator of Programmes. He will be responsible for the public programmes of Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, including exhibition-related discursive formats, thematic events, performances, and community-oriented projects.

Yasmin Naderi Afschar, Co-Direction Museum – Exhibitions, comments: "We are delighted to welcome Christopher Wierling and Simon Würsten Marin and to enrich our exhibitions and programmes with the perspectives of two committed and forward-thinking curatorial practitioners. Their work represents a contemporary, cross-disciplinary approach to curating, placing exchange with and among artists, visitors, and specific communities at its centre, while fostering a multiplicity of voices. Their experience strengthens key commitments of the museum."

Christopher Wierling works as a curator between cultural studies and artistic practice. From 2022 to 2026, he was part of the curatorial team at Gropius Bau. With Jenny Schlenzka and Yasmil Raymond, he co-curated the exhibition Rirkrit Tiravanija: DAS GLÜCK IST NICHT IMMER LUSTIG (2024) and worked alongside Hendrik Folkerts on Fabelhaftes Produkt, the Berlin iteration of Vaginal Davis: Magnificent Product (2025), organised by Moderna Museet, Stockholm, in collaboration with Gropius Bau and MoMA PS1, New York. Together with Julia Grosse, he has curated Dabei sein und nicht schweigen, the largest exhibition to date by the artist Gabriele Stötzer. Previously, Christopher developed discursive and performative public programmes for Haus der Kulturen der Welt (2019–2022) and the Berlin Biennale 12 (2022) and contributed as producer and dramaturg to the metabolic installation Absorption (2020–2022) by Asad Raza.

Simon Würsten Marin is an art historian and curator. His practice lies at the intersection of visual arts and performance, with a focus on socially engaged approaches and transcultural perspectives. Over the past decade, he has curated exhibitions and projects internationally, from institutional settings such as the Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne and the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History in Rome to independent contexts and direct collaborations with communities. He is also the author and editor of numerous exhibition catalogues and essays. Simon holds a specialised MA in Art History in a Global Context from the University of Zurich. He currently teaches contemporary art theory at ÉCAL and accompanies citizen-initiated art commissions as mediator for Nouveaux Commanditaires Suisse.

Through exhibitions and a diverse public programme, it creates space for encounters, exchange, and engagement with current social issues. Admission is free. The museum is an institution of the Migros Culture Percentage.

The current exhibition, Mohamed Bourouissa – Pour Noubia, runs until 6 September 2026.
