SAN ANTONIO, TX.- Ruby City announces its Fall 2026 season, bringing together a major exhibition drawn from the Linda Pace Foundation Collection, a new site-specific mural by San Antonio artist Matt Kleberg, and a limited-time presentation of Chuck Ramirez’s beloved Christmas Trees. Together, these projects extend Ruby City’s commitment to making contemporary art freely accessible while inviting visitors to experience the campus, collection, and holiday season in new ways.

Opening Saturday, September 26, Ruby City’s forthcoming, exhibition, Generative Disruption: Feminist Art from the Collection, will explore identity, gender, and the lived experiences of women through a feminist lens. Rooted in the vision of artist, collector, and philanthropist Linda Pace, the exhibition draws from the Linda Pace Foundation Collection to consider ideas of agency, embodiment, power, and representation.

Feminism has long been a guiding force within the collection, reflected in Pace’s commitment to artists whose works challenge convention, expand representation, and offer new ways of understanding ourselves and the world around us. Featuring works across a range of media, the exhibition brings together artists who confront social and cultural narratives, reimagine structures of power, and create space for reflection, critique, and possibility.

Moving between the personal and the political, the intimate and the transformative, the exhibition underscores the enduring relevance of feminist perspectives in contemporary art. Through works that center women’s lived experiences, question gender and social norms, and elevate materials often dismissed as domestic or unconventional—including staples and menstrual blood—the exhibition invites visitors to reconsider whose stories, bodies, and forms of making have historically been valued in art. Artists featured include Tracey Emin, Koo Jeong A, Tracey Moffatt, Wangechi Mutu, Anya Gallaccio, Mona Hatoum, Shahzia Sikander, Tala Madani, and others.

Also opening September 26, Ruby City will unveil a new site-specific mural by San Antonio artist Matt Kleberg. Created specifically for Ruby City, the commission responds to the distinctive architecture of the building designed by Sir David Adjaye and Adjaye Associates. Drawing upon a visual language informed by architectural forms, ceremonial spaces, and theatrical settings, Kleberg’s work explores the tension between openness and enclosure, presence and absence, inviting viewers into spaces that are at once familiar and imagined.

Kleberg’s mural inaugurates a new program of long-term, temporary, site-responsive commissions that will invite contemporary artists to engage directly with Ruby City’s architecture and campus. By transforming the building itself into a platform for artistic exploration, the program will create opportunities for artists to experiment, respond to place, and activate the public spaces connecting the galleries, grounds, and surrounding community.

Opening later in the fall on Thursday, October 29, Ruby City will present Chuck Ramirez’s vibrant Christmas Trees in Studio. Commissioned by Linda Pace in 2005, these exuberant sculptures transform holiday ornaments, boas, beads, artificial flowers, and other everyday materials into joyful works that blur the line between decoration and fine art.

A largely self-taught conceptual artist born and raised in San Antonio, Ramirez was known for finding beauty, humor, and emotional resonance in ordinary objects. Writer, curator, and longtime friend Anjali Gupta describes his gift for “monumentalizing the disposable,” using familiar materials to prompt new ways of seeing. For Gupta, the trees are distinguished by the sentimentality and longing they evoke, reflecting Ramirez’s deep interest in memory, celebration, and the meaning carried by everyday things.

Created with Pace’s directive that “More is More!,” the trees invite visitors of all ages to experience the holiday season through Ramirez’s singular vision. Free and open to the public, the installation will be accompanied by special holiday programming designed to bring the community together around art, celebration, and the spirit of the season.

Rooted in Ruby City’s mission to make contemporary art accessible to all, the Fall 2026 exhibition season reflects Linda Pace’s belief in art’s capacity to inspire curiosity, connection, and dialogue.
