LONG ISLAND CITY, NY.-As part of the Fine Print: Alternative Media at P.S.1 series, Chicago-based publisher Front Forty Press showcases several of its recent publications. On display are Graffitecture, a visual and verbal exploration of designs by Chicago graffiti artists who were invited to draw and paint on photographs of modern architectural interiors; Short Stories Illustrated by Artists, a compilation that ‘blindly’ paired stories by seven authors with illustrations by seven visual artists; Matt Volla’s Unruly Drawings, an imagined journey through space with wildly evolving kinetic life forms and accompanying essay by curator Berin Golonu; Sonneteer, a collection of nine notable graphic artists’ interpretation of today’s built environment; and Inner City Light, a stylized showcase of photographic portraits by youth living in Chicago’s subsidized housing.

Many of the authors and collaborators, including Matt Volla, will be present to sign books and discuss these projects. A reading from Front Forty Press’s upcoming graphic novel release, The Hole: Consumer Culture, will be presented by illustrator and authors John Jennings and Damian Duffy. The book explores the simultaneous worship and degradation of African Americans in popular culture and the bloody terror of boundaries being torn down.

Front Forty Press (FFP) is a small, Chicago-based publishing company focusing on various artistic and sociological topics. Utilizing a collaborative process, FFP combines the talents of many individuals in fantastically designed books and exhibitions.

Presented and co-organized with innovative publications from New York and nationwide, Fine Print: Alternative Media at P.S.1 is a series of programs involving panel discussions, readings, lectures, music, performance, and play. Participating publications include: The Believer, Bidoun, Cabinet, Clear Cut Press, Esopus, Influence, The Journal of Aesthetics & Protest, Mass Appeal, n+1, The Relay Project, and Topic.
