NEW YORK.- Painter and curator Roy Moyer, 85, died in Manhattan. He was a self-taught visual artist. He did his undergraduate and graduate academic studies at Columbia University. He later studied at the University of Oslo. He lived in Salonica, Greece from 1947 until 1950 and held his first exhibition there. He was director of the American Federation of Arts from 1963 until 1972, and was later the chief of art and design for UNICEF.

He helped organize and create exhibitions such as “Art and the Found Object,” which opened in 1960 and included works by Joseph Cornell, Robert Rauschenberg, and Marcel Duchamp.

Works by Roy Moyer are at the Rose Art Museum of Brandeis University, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and other museums.
