NEW YORK, NY.- C24 Gallery presents In Between, an exhibition of works by Fırat Neziroğlu that approaches weaving not simply as a material practice, but as a language; one through which memory, emotion, identity, and lived experience are recorded, preserved, and transmitted.

At the heart of Neziroğlu’s practice lies the ambition to forge a universal language, synthesizing the traditional motifs and symbolic vocabulary of the Anatolian kilim with his own innovative techniques. Historically, these motifs have served as a semiotic vessel for complex human conditions ranging from love and protection to separation and hope. Rather than approaching these textiles as decorative forms, Neziroğlu understands them as repositories of lived experience.

Throughout In Between, this ancestral visual lexicon intersects with the technological frameworks that mediate contemporary experience and perception. The exhibition draws a subtle parallel between the woven motif and the digital image. The works’ titles are inherently narrative, inviting viewers to explore multiple layers of interpretation within each piece. Where experiences were once encoded into fibers and patterns, they are now increasingly compressed into images, icons, and screens.

Fırat Neziroğlu has spent nearly three decades working across textile art, design, performance, and education. Trained in textile and fashion design, his practice is informed by extensive research into Anatolian weaving traditions as well as his background in dance, bringing an awareness of movement, gesture, rhythm, and the body into the construction of his images. He has developed a distinctive hand-weaving technique based on light, shadow, and negative space, allowing threads to operate almost as lines in a drawing and the surrounding space to become an active element of the work.





Alongside his studio practice, Neziroğlu has worked with weaving communities throughout Turkey to research and reactivate endangered textiles, techniques, and looms, connecting preservation with contemporary production. His work has been exhibited internationally across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the United States, and his broader practice moves between weaving, sculpture, fashion, dance, performance, education, and cultural research.

In Between occupies the space suggested by its title: between image and object, tradition and technology, inherited memory and contemporary experience. It proposes weaving not as something belonging to the past, but as an enduring way of making experience visible.
