ISTANBUL.- Borusan Contemporary opens its new season with two exhibitions running in parallel at Perili Köşk (the Haunted Mansion), its historic home overlooking the Bosphorus: Olivo Barbieri's Time Space Geometry, the Italian photographer's first solo exhibition in Türkiye, and Haunted, a collection exhibition exploring how artificial intelligence and digital culture are transforming contemporary visual culture.

Time Space Geometry — Olivo Barbieri

Curated by Fırat Arapoğlu, Time Space Geometry brings together a selection from five thematic series spanning more than two decades of Olivo Barbieri's practice — Time Space Geometry, site specific_, The Waterfall Project, Alps – Geographies and People, and Capri — known for his distinctive use of optical intervention to shift scale, perspective and the perception of place.

The exhibition also presents, for the first time, a series commissioned by the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection in 2023, for which Barbieri travelled across Türkiye to photograph nine ancient cities: Perge, Kibyra, Laodikeia, Hierapolis, Aphrodisias, Ephesus, Sagalassos, Side and Myra.

Haunted

Curated by Dr. Kumru Eren, Director of Borusan Contemporary, Haunted brings together works from the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection by leading figures in new media and technology-based art — including Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Memo Akten, teamLab, Quayola, Zimoun, DRIFT, Marco Brambilla and Daniel Canogar — alongside works on paper by Turkish artist Kemal Önsoy.





The exhibition takes its title from Perili Köşk itself — known locally as "the Haunted Mansion" since its upper floors were left unfinished after construction was interrupted during the First World War — and reimagines that history through the invisible systems of the digital age: data, algorithms, artificial intelligence and machine processes.
