Indianapolis Holds First Recycled Art Competition |
INDIANAPOLIS Beginning this afternoon through noon Friday, April 27, residents can vote on-line for their favorite recycled art piece as part of Recycle Indianapolis’ ReArtFormation competition.
To vote, visit www.RecycleIndianapolis.org, peruse the art pieces and select your favorite. On-line voting will close at noon on Friday. However, visitors at the 2007 Earth Day Indiana Festival will also be able to vote in the Department of Public Works’ Air, Land and Water Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The Viewer’s Choice award as well as the three top prize winners will be announced around 3 p.m. at the main stage at the Earth Day Festival. Winning art pieces will be on display during the entire month of May in the Mayor’s executive office suite; the remaining pieces will be displayed in the DPW office located on the 24th floor of the City-County Building.
ReArtFormation is Recycle Indianapolis’ first recycled art competition and exhibition. Amateur and professional artists, high school age and adults, who live in Marion County were invited to submit one work of art created from materials that would have otherwise been disposed of in the trash.
Recycle Indianapolis is an initiative designed to broaden recycling participation in Indianapolis through increased awareness and education by promoting ease of use, waste reduction and environmental responsibility through personal neighborhood and city-wide opportunities.
The 2007 Earth Day Indiana Festival is April 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the American Legion Mall in downtown Indianapolis.
