LONDON, ENGLAND.- The Mall Galleries is excited to announce an artist discussion during this year's Royal Society of Portrait Painters exhibition: Toby Wiggins RP: Tales from the BP Travel Award, Tuesday 8th May 2007, 6pm-7pm, The Mall Galleries.

Toby Wiggins, member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, gives a candid account of the socio-political state of British agriculture resulting from his experiences from the BP Travel Award during 2006. From receiving the award to traveling around his homeland of the Wessex region, Toby shares audio transcripts, paintings and drawings of the subjects which he met during that time.

Toby was awarded the travel prize through a proposal to travel around Wessex and explore agricultural communities. During his travels, Toby discovers an economic crisis, contributed to by the meat crisis, global farming and shipping, environmental damage and unemployment which is being largely ignored by the country's city neighbours. Toby uses portraiture to convey this farming catastrophe and honours the people of the country to educate people oblivious to this problem.

This is a free event with gallery admission. Royal Society of Portrait Painters annual exhibition, 26th April-13th May.
