LONDON.- The Coleman Project Space presents Dead Planetarium, a specially commissioned site-specific installation by Jonathan Scott, on view May 18th – 17th June 2007. Glasgow-based artist Jonathan Scott explores the complex relationships between people and their environments: how we adapt to and are managed by the man-made infrastructures that define social space.

With his first London-based residency and exhibition at Coleman Project Space, Scott will respond to the inner-city landscape as both physical entity and ideological space, exposing the narrative significance of everyday urban detritus. Taking his cue from literary descriptions of the city (think J G Ballard’s dystopic metropoli and Iain Sinclair’s uncanny London guide), he intends to formulate his own abject narration within a large-scale installation incorporating the drawing and sculptural elements of his practice. An outsider responding to an unknown site Scott hopes to reveal as much about the sense of transition and loss within his work as the real and perceived local histories sewn within this pocket of South East London.

Scott will be resident in the gallery from April 29th to May 13th and the exhibition will run from May 18th to June 17th 2007. Supported by The Henry Moore Foundation. Supported by The Scottish Arts Council. Supported by the National Lottery through The Scottish Arts Council.
