NEW YORK, NY.- Marian Goodman Gallery welcomes Ebony L. Haynes as its first Senior Director, Global Head of Curatorial Affairs. In this newly created role, Haynes will work closely with Gallery leadership on exhibitions and special initiatives that deepen and expand its international program. A critic, curator, and experienced gallery director, Haynes currently serves as Global Head of Curatorial Projects at David Zwirner and was responsible for establishing its Tribeca exhibition space, 52 Walker, in 2021. She starts with Marian Goodman Gallery in late November.

Haynes’ appointment coincides with a new alignment in the Gallery’s leadership team, with Rose Lord and Junette Teng named as Co-Presidents. In their new roles, Lord and Teng share responsibility for the Gallery’s strategic direction and lead its management team, which includes Alison Cuzzolino, COO/CFO; Leslie Nolen, Partner; Linda Pellegrini, Global Head of Communications & Events; Eleanor Royer, Managing Director, Paris; and Haynes. The Gallery also shares that Managing Partner and Head of Sales Emily-Jane Kirwan will leave the gallery at the end of the month to lead initiatives in cultural philanthropy.

“As we approach the Gallery’s 50th anniversary, we are excited to lead it together — building on what has made the Gallery distinctive while creating new opportunities for our artists and program,” said Lord. “We are extremely grateful to Emily-Jane for her vision throughout her 15-year tenure and the central role she has played in expanding sales and institutional and patron relationships. She has championed our artists through significant projects, and was instrumental in the establishment of our Tribeca flagship.”

Added Teng, “Ebony is a natural fit for the Gallery. She brings a strong curatorial vision, intellectual rigor, and deep engagement with artists, which aligns with our approach. Her appointment also reflects where we want to go next: expanding the ways we support our artists, creating new contexts for their work, and bringing a new perspective to our program as we enter the Gallery’s next 50 years.”

“I have long admired Marian Goodman Gallery for the thoughtfulness of its program and, above all, for the depth of its relationships with artists,” said Haynes. “It is a tremendous privilege to join the Gallery at this time and to contribute to its global program with initiatives that create new contexts for the Gallery’s artists and audiences.”

Ebony L. Haynes currently serves as the Global Head of Curatorial Projects at David Zwirner. She previously led the gallery’s 52 Walker space in Tribeca. Haynes was the co-curator of the 2024 Triennial at MOCA Toronto. Previously, she held positions as curator for the inaugural Fine Arts MFA exhibition for first-year students at The Rhode Island School of Design, Providence; visiting curator and critic at the Yale School of Art in the Painting and Printmaking program; as well as director at Martos Gallery, New York, and Shoot The Lobster, New York and Los Angeles.

Haynes sits on the boards of Artists Space New York, Topical Cream, and the New Art Dealers Alliance. She also runs Black Art Sessions, an online “school” that offers free professional practice classes to black students worldwide.
