ST.GALLEN.- The time is fast approaching: In December 2026, the refurbishing works will begin on the New Foyer of the Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, which will become a space for meetings and events – not only for the Kunst Halle itself, but also for an expanded network of partners, associations and creatives. The grand re-opening will take place in spring 2027.

The Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen wishes to use this significant moment to celebrate its artistic community and the values of togetherness, solidarity and friendship which – through all the changes – define it as an exhibition venue and institution. With "HOUSE OF CHANGE: Pre-Construction Warm-Up Galore", we are inviting you to a packed month-long programme: an exhibition and a range of events – performances, readings, concerts, a book fair and more – will bring together new and long-standing companions of the Kunst Halle and offer an outlook into its future.

The exhibition brings together around 30 artists with roots in the region who are connected to Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, both historically and in the present day. Drawing on the traditional format of the Christmas exhibition, the works provide an insight into the diversity of regional artistic practices and are available for purchase. Every sale therefore directly supports the local art scene and benefits both the artists and the future programme in the New Foyer.

"HOUSE OF CHANGE: Pre-Construction-Warm-Up-Galore" also focuses on the institutional transformation processes at the Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen and shares these with a wider public. Not without a touch of irony, the programme's title references the psychological model of the same name, developed by Claes F. Janssen and Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. The "House of Change" describes a sequence of emotional states experienced during processes of change – visualised through the four rooms of contentment, denial, confusion and renewal. However, rather than following a rigid change management script that strives for resolution and optimisation, the programme holds space for experimentation and negotiation, for the unfinished and the speculative – thereby laying the groundwork for what is to come. Join the Galore!
