BASEL.- VOLTAshow03 Basel 2007 takes place in Basel through June 16, 2006. VOLTAshow03 — Basel’s exquisite fair for cutting-edge art — takes place again at the industrial ULTRA BRAG Hall in the Basel harbor. A newly-introduced Curatorial Board, involving international curators, emphasizes the concept of a focused event for the discovery of new talents, while the invitational section will be selected in collaboration with London’s Zoo Art Fair and will concentrate on a specific geographical region. Publishing house Daiwa Radiator Factory, owned by renowned Japanese collector Mr. Sato, will support the unique VOLTAshow03 publication, designed to be more artist’s book than catalogue.

VOLTAshow03—the elegant boutique fair that took Basel by storm in 2005—is scheduled to run for an extra day in the 2007 Venice Biennale/Documenta year, from Monday June 11th through Saturday 16th. Continuing the original concept of reaching beyond a marketplace atmosphere and creating an event that is even more exhibition than art fair, VOLTAshow is excited to announce the institution of a Curatorial Board, which will secure the independence of choices and promote new dialogues. Conceiving the fair as though it were one big curated show, galleries have been encouraged to apply with solo presentations or installations which would challenge the usual art fair appearance.
