WOLVERHAMPTON, UK.-The Wolverhampton Art Gallery presents Simon Denison, on view through August 25, 2007. Simon Denison’s photography presents a candid view of our landscape, where human impact is apparent in the presence of ruined industrial buildings, electricity pylons and the remnants of mining and quarrying.
Denison rejects the traditional, idealised view of our countryside. Instead his photography celebrates the way man’s touch can work with nature to create a heightened, yet accidental, beauty.
This exhibition coincides with the Black Country bid for Living Landmarks: People’s Millions Award, which would see the creation of an urban park within the West Midlands, revitalising communities.
The exhibition will include some fine examples of geological specimens, which are part of the Fraser collection, setting the work within the context of our local geological landscape.
