Kate Tarratt Cross - Nightmares.

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA.- The Association for Visual Artists presents Kate Tarratt Cross, Timothy Zantsi, and Joe Dolby. The exhibitions are titled: Kate Tarratt Cross - Shadows from Haiti, Timothy Zantsi - Recent paintings, and Joe Dolby - Recent paintings, all on view through Friday, 7 September 2007.

Kate Tarratt Cross was born in South Africa in 1973. Tarratt Cross is presently living in Haiti where she has been running an Art Foundation set up by herself and her partner Patrick Boucard. She plans to return to South Africa and concentrate on her art practice. She has exhibited in Haiti, USA, England and South Africa and will be exhibiting Shadows from Haiti in the Main gallery. Kate’s work evolves around her autobiographical journey through space, time and getting to know her shadow. She records her journey by capturing her shadow in contrived situations.

Timothy Zantsi was born in Cape Town in 1975 and studied Visual Arts at the Sivuyile College in 1993 and 1994 then at the Cape College where he obtained his N6 certificate in 1998. Zantsi has participated in numerous group exhibitions nationally, and returns to the AVA for his third Solo exhibition which employs the Long gallery.

Joe Dolby completed his B. A. (Fine Art), University of Cape Town 1974
This recent body of works spanning the last few years includes works in pastel, charcoal and watercolour. The subject matter ranges from depictions of people to landscapes and studies of botanical subjects. The depictions of people are not portraits in the conventional sense, but are used as subjects to convey different moods and feelings.
