WARREN, NJ.- Virgin Mobile USA, a leading provider of no-annual-contract wireless phone services targeted at the youth market, today announced it has commissioned a special gallery of works of art created by 21 internationally renowned artists on behalf of The RE*Generation, Virgin Mobile’s pro-social initiative to raise awareness of the plight of at-risk and homeless youth. The works, which represent the artists’ interpretations of what it’s like to be alone and on the fringe, were first shown this past weekend at the Virgin Festival By Virgin Mobile in Baltimore, MD.

As of this week, the art is available for viewing and bidding online at www.regenerationgallery.com and will remain there for a period preceding a benefit gala planned in New York in November where the items will be auctioned off. All proceeds benefit Virgin Mobile’s charitable partners in The RE*Generation: StandUp For Kids, YouthNoise and Children’s Health Fund.

Each piece has been created on a 24” x 24” wood panel by the artists, some emerging, some established: Diane Barcelowsky, Melinda Beck, Calef Brown, Thomas Campbell, Clayton Brothers, Daniel Davidson, James Gallagher, Julie Goldstein, Matt Hansel, Caroline Hwang, Jordan Isip, Chesiel John, Greg Lamarche, Matt Leines, Julia Marchand, Taylor McKimens, Jean-Pierre Roy, Antonio Sanchez, Denise Tassin, and Eric White, all of whom were specifically chosen by artist and curator Rich Jacobs for their youthful and powerful imagery.

“The RE*Generation Art Gallery and Auction was a successful event last year, contributing to the more than $1 million invested in The RE*Generation and our charitable partners. We take our commitment to these groups and this issue very seriously, and integrate building awareness about the millions of homeless young people into everything Virgin Mobile does,” said Dan Schulman, CEO, Virgin Mobile USA. “We’re very proud of this program, and the activities planned in November for National Homeless Youth Awareness Month.”

Through the efforts of The RE*Generation, a Congressional resolution was passed last month designating November as a time to focus on the crisis of homeless youth in the U.S.

“The artists participating again this year, as well as those new to The RE*Generation, are thrilled to contribute to this worthwhile project,” said consultant and private dealer Alix Sloan. “I’m confident these works will produce an extremely successful event for this meaningful cause.” Sloan, who organized Marilyn Manson’s first art exhibit, serves as The RE*Generation Gallery Coordinator for the second time.
