SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA.- The Australian Centre for Photography presents New German Photomedia, three exceptional exhibitions as part of the GerMANY FACES festival. The exhibitions are on view through September 16, 2007. Lux Loci - Thomas Weinberger - presented in association with thirtyseven degrees - Contemporary Fine Art Gallery, Sydney. The award-winning German photographer and former architect Thomas Weinberger creates spectral, starkly beautiful images of the deserted urban landscape through the blending of day and night.

The Book of Back - Natascha Stellmach. "Sinking into the dark poetry of the book, the reader is spun into a world within worlds, to a point of intense psychological discomfort."Astrid Mania, Berlin-based writer and curator. This artist book and installation poignantly evoke the immigrant's sense of dislocation from their homeland, underpinned by the poetic idea of Zerrissenheit - being torn between lands, between worlds, or simply being torn. The exhibition coincides with the publication of The Book of Back www.bookofback.com.

NoCure- Boris Eldagsen, on view through September 29, 2007. Bathing the viewer in bright, white light, Boris Eldagsen's large-scale, four channel video and sound installation is a poetic and haunting meditation on the transience of life and memory that is as confronting as it is serene. The soundtrack, composed by David Chisholm, is underscored by material drawn from Wagner's Götterdämmerung and features lyrics of the British band The Cure.
