MERIDA, YUCATAN, MEXICO.-Maestro Manuel Mendive´s exhibition, entitled "El color blanco, el azul, el verde y el color de mi piel" (The white, the blue, the green color and that of my skin), will be hosted by the Museum of Anthropology and History of Yucatan, within the framework of activities for the 466th anniversary of the Foundation of the City of Mérida.

The government of the said city has organized, as part of the celebration, a comprehensive schedule of cultural activities whose guest country is Cuba. Manuel Mendive has been invited to do this personal show of his latest works. Dr. Ida Rodriguez Prampolini, historian and critic of Latin American art, is the curator of this show.

Mendive’s show, in the framework of the festivity for the foundation of Mérida, will be opened on January 10th, 2008 and shall remain at this institution until March 30th. This show will let us approach Mendive’s latest artistic work through his paintings and sculptures on several supports, as well as installations. A choice of performances conceived by the artist, from his proposals in the 80’s to the aesthetic evolution in the 21st century, of his body painting and performances, which have been shown at biennials and several international events in European countries, Latin America, the United States and the African continent, shall be projected on a screen. The works by this outstanding Cuban artist will allow to assess his more than four decades career, in which the Cuban culture emerges, with his universal vision.
