The Schuylkill Center Spins Tales with Relics, Myths, and Yarn
“Goal Orientation 1-3” by John Karpinski.

PHILADELPHIA, PA.-The Schuylkill Center and The Center for Emerging Visual Artists (CEVA) presents the opening of Relics, Myths and Yarn on Saturday, March 8 from 5:30 pm-7 pm.

Throughout history, humans have used animals, organic objects and other components of the natural world as powerful metaphors in storytelling and mythology--symbolizing worldly ideas, fears, and passions. The works featured in Relics, Myths and Yarn are five contemporary examples of iconic subjects as anchors in story, myth or tale that derive from deeply personal experiences. There will be an artists’ talk, Nature and the Creative Process at 6 pm.

The Environmental Art Program at The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education is based on the position that all experiences are a form of learning and communication. Our objective is to enhance awareness and appreciation of art forms and artwork that specifically address the natural environment either through materials, concept, or imagery. To this end, we present art forms and activities that incorporate education, presentation, and community group participation; provide creative and professional opportunities for emerging and underrepresented professional artists; and offer an alternative art venue for citizens in the local community.
