LOUISVILLE.- The Frazier International History Museum is honored to be the exclusive venue for the multi-media exhibit Bobby, Martin, & John: Once Upon an American Dream during the 40th anniversary of Robert F. Kennedys assassination. RFK, who was a United States Senator and brother of assassinated President John F. Kennedy, was killed on June 5, 1968, following celebrations of his successful campaign in the Californian primary elections. He was seeking the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.
The Frazier Museums temporary exhibition displays an inspirational collection of 150 photographs related to RFKs life and career, as well as those of JFK and Martin Luther King, Jr. These exclusive photographs, which were compiled from the archives of Look Magazine photographer Stanley Tretick, document an idealistic era through the lives, courage and struggles of these three great American leaders, all of whom were assassinated as they campaigned on behalf of the American people.
This is the first public display of this particular exhibit and a rare opportunity to view these photographs and inspirational videos of these three men. Music, media, objects, and artifacts that evoke the wonderful yet turbulent 1960sa critical time in American historyaugment the exhibit.
Mark Zanni, Director of Marketing for the Frazier Museum, notes the exhibit is particularly relevant today. The Kennedy family is once again in the publics mind as the world rallies to support Ted Kennedy during his recent health issues and commemorates the tragic assassination of his brother, Zanni says. And of course the historical significance of Martin Luther King, Jr. is as important as ever, especially since 2008 is the 40th anniversary year of his assassination as well.
We are pleased to be hosting such a topical exhibit during this important time, and invite the public to share in this unique opportunity to view it.
Bobby, Martin, & John: Once Upon an American Dream will be on exhibit at the Frazier Museum through October 5, 2008.
