MARBLEHEAD, MA.- In what has become an annual event, a dozen artists will gather to exhibit their work from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31 on the lawns of 280 Ocean Avenue on Marblehead Neck. The rain date for the event is Monday, September 1.
The organizers have titled the event Evolutions 08, and its offerings will range in style from traditional to contemporary. The exhibited work will include watercolors; oils; acrylics; photography; etchings; prints; sculpture; and ceramics. All works will be available directly from the artists. No mark-ups will be added or commissions taken.
While the names of many of the artists will be familiar to North Shore art lovers, several of the artists have never exhibited their work on the North Shore before. The exhibiting artists will include: Bob Bartlett; Meghann Brideau; Dick Buckley; Frank Costantino; Jesa Damora; Carol Dearborn; Lena Fransioli; Meghan Gargano; Richard Gilson; Mark Malloy; Katarzyna (Kasia) Mirowska; Fran Morey and Mark Wholey.
This year our E'08 event has expanded to include a performance by lyricist, guitarist and vocalist, Barbara Alex and friends; Singer, songwriter and guitarist Donald Tower and gifted jazz keyboardist David Ward as well as N.H. seacoast songwriter, poet, guitarist, and singer Ted Sink. We're also quite pleased that jazz singer and keyboardist Lisa Watkins who most recently performed at Tanglewood will be joining us this year. Our E'08 audiences and performers will both benefit from the highly skilled presence of Master Sound Engineer, Jim Merritt. For many seasons, Jim has been the audio wizard who has helped make MFoA Crocker Park performances so hugely enjoyable and successful.
E'08 will also feature two short film screenings: "Tarantino's Mind," A 15 minute short by the Brazilian directing duo, 300ml, along with a six minute series "Undercover Cheerleaders" episode. What happens when 2007 Emmy and Cannes Gold Lion winning director Bryan Buckley focuses his comedic genius on a TV series? The answer is a very funny six minutes as failed Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders - Nicki, Steph, Ash and Jess, join together to fight discrimination in "The Danny Glover Cab Test."
