Holland-based Beer Company Continues Its Support of the Art Scene Through Unique SwingArt Bottle

MIAMI.- For the third consecutive year, Grolsch is supporting five of the most important art shows in the United States during Art Basel in Miami Beach, December 4-7, 2008. Art Basel Miami Beach combines an international selection of top galleries with an exciting program of special exhibitions, parties and crossover events featuring music, film, architecture and design.

At last year's shows, Grolsch -- famous for its iconic Swingtop bottle -- introduced the limited-edition SwingArt bottle, and produced a limited number of Grolsch bottles featuring an artist's work on the bottle. This year the brand is taking it a step further by partnering with Miami-based artist Edouard Duval Carrie, whose work will not only adorn this year's SwingArt bottle, but also the outside side wall of the Soho Studios in the heart of the Wynwood Art District during Art Basel.

Originally from Haiti, Carrie is an established artist who has shown his art in galleries and museums worldwide. He combines African fables, classic mythology, Haitian and world history in combination with contemporary events in his art. Currently his art is on display at the Bernice Steinbaum gallery in Miami and MAM (Miami's Art Museum) among other galleries in the US. The artwork used for this year's SwingArt bottle is called Anima, Latin for "the spirit within."

"We are thrilled to once again be supporting these shows during Art Basel Miami Beach," said Bas Besselink, Grolsch US Brand Manager. "The SwingArt bottle is truly a unique, limited-edition art piece in its own right and we are excited for people to see Edouard's magnificent work both on the Grolsch bottle, as well as on a larger scale in the form of the collage on the Soho Studios wall."

A total of 1,700 bottles will be available exclusively at the Grolsch-supported previews of Art Basel Miami Beach on December 2 and 3. Grolsch will be supporting many of the major art fairs and art events in the Wynwood Art District, including Pulse, NADA, Scope, Photo Miami and Art Miami.

"I'm honored to display this piece on the SwingArt bottle and at Soho Studios," said Edouard Duval Carrie. "Grolsch has been very involved in supporting a variety of local art scenes throughout the US and I'm grateful they've allowed me to showcase my work in such a unique fashion."
