PARIS.- Belgian artist, photographer, and illustrator Guy Peellaert, 74, died in Paris due to a long illness. He illustrated legends of rock and of film. He was born on April 6, 1934 in Brussels and became known in the 1960’s as author of comics. He studied at the Fine Arts School in Brussels and used many techniques such as drawing, photograph, painting and mixed them up.

In 1972 he did a series of 25 paintings titled “Rock Dreams” and illustrated many rock stars record covers, such as “Diamond Dogs” for David Bowie and "It's only Rock and roll" for the Rolling Stones. He also created the posters for films like Wim Wenders movies “Paris, Texas” and “Wings of Desire”, for Martin Scorcese’s “Taxi Driver” and Robert Altman’s "Short Cuts".

Noémie Mainguet, one of his agents, stated that his works had been part of international exhibitions in recent years in places like Brazil, Cuba and Japan.
