SOCIAL IMPACT, Kohärenzen des Geschmacks (Harterfeldstraße 7 /EG / Tür 9), 2001, Nordico – Museum der Stadt Linz.

LINZ.- The Lentos Art Museumpresents today Linz View - Images of the City in Art 1909-2009, on view through April 19, 2009. Stories on, with and about Linz are told on the basis of collection holdings from the Museums of the City of Linz ( Lentos Art Museum, Nordico - Museum of the City of Linz). Paintings, graphic works, photography, sculptures, film stills, objects, videos and examples of architecture, all from the last one hundred years, show the various stages of the development of Linz: selected examples from art and culture show the identity of the city.

The artists who have created works with a topographical reference to Linz have all had different motivations for doing so: it was where they were born, a place of residence, a place visited, a work place, education, chance. Some names have already been forgotten, some are closely linked with important impulses in the city, others will once again be rediscovered.

The exhibition LINZ VIEW addresses a curious audience interested in art. A topos, a place tells a story, a place writes. It is depicted, formed by people, by artists from the place, it is captured. This has to do with history (oral history), art history, literature and sociology. It is also a search for sensitivities, for descriptions, for images that make up these places. Topography is also the history of a city, a place, an area, a country. Places of art and culture, artists’ studios and residences, buildings; this also has to do with architecture - for buildings bear eloquent witness to the people of a city.

Participating artists and architects: Leo Adler, Fritz Aigner, Werner Augustiner, Rudolf Baschant, Herbert Bayer, Heinz Bitzan, Franz Blaas, Dietmar Brehm, Franz Brosch, Klemens Brosch, Lucca Chmel, Heinz Cibulka, Elisabeth Czihak / Walter Ebendorfer, Gunter Damisch, Richard Diller, Herbert Dimmel, Veronika Dirnhofer, Albrecht Dunzendorfer, Lorenz Estermann, Waltraud Lehner (VALIE EXPORT), Margit Feyerer-Fleischanderl, Hans Franta, Fritz Fröhlich, Gregor Graf, Wolfgang Hanghofer, Peter Hauenschild / Georg Ritter, Karl Hauk, HAUS-RUCKER-CO, Karl Hayd, Max Hirschenauer, Rudolf Hoflehner, Egon Hofmann, Friedrich Höhnel, Edgar Honetschläger, Robert Jelinek, Judith Kaltenböck, Leo Kandl, Anton Kehrer, Karl-Heinz Klopf, Edgar Knaack, Demeter Koko, Oskar Kokoschka, Maximilian Koller, Elisabeth Kramer / Simon Hipfl, Paul Kranzler, Peter Kubovsky, Oskar Laske, Anton Lehmden, Marko Lulic, Anton Lutz, Ernst August von Mandesloh, Matthias May, Kurt Moldovan, Fanny Newald, Alfons Ortner, Hermann Painitz, Monika Pichler, Hans Robert Pippal, Pixelhotel, Alfred Poell, Hans Pollack, Wilhelm Nicolaus Prachensky, Arnulf Rainer, Rebel Club, August Sander, Josef Schnetzer, Ludwig Schwarzer, SOCIAL IMPACT, Margherita Spiluttini, Otto Stadler, Edith Stauber, Rudolf Steinbüchler, Adalbert Stifer, Friederike Stolz, Andrea van der Straeten, Berta von Tarnóczy, Julius Ullmann, Anton Watzl, Othmar Zechyr, Franz von Zülow.
