KANSAS CITY, MO.- In light of Kansas City’s thriving art scene, the exhibition Interchange explores the idea of reciprocity between artists and their community. Culled from the permanent collection of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, the included works are by area artists and subtly reveal how Kansas City serves as a catalyst for the ideas and subject matter examined in the individual works. The exhibition Interchange is on view April 7–December 4, 2009, at the Kemper East, part of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art.

The galleries at Kemper East (200 E. 44th Street) are open 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. Admission is free.

These artists have creatively shaped and launched Kansas City’s visual culture into the future. Several of the exhibition’s artists have taught at the Kansas City Art Institute and Johnson County Community College. Others have worked with Kansas City-based cultural organizations, including the Kansas City Artists Coalition, and five of the exhibition’s artists are Charlotte Street Foundation award recipients.
