SFMOMA Opens Blue Bottle Coffee Bar in New Rooftop Garden

SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art announced the opening of the Rooftop Garden Blue Bottle Coffee Bar. The Rooftop Garden will not only serve as a dynamic space for showcasing SFMOMA's ever-expanding collection of modern and contemporary sculpture, but it will also provide visitors with a place for reflection, relaxation, interaction, and now, refreshment. The Rooftop Garden Blue Bottle Coffee Bar will open on May 14, 2009.

The Rooftop Garden, which is partially covered but primarily open air, adds 14,400 square feet to the museum. On its western side, the space shares a panoramic glass wall with the museum's fifth-floor galleries, which overlook the art in the garden. Access to the Rooftop Garden is via an enclosed glass-and-steel bridge.

The Rooftop Garden Blue Bottle Coffee Bar will serve espresso, macchiato, cappuccino, caffè latte, caffè mocha, and affogatto made using an ornate espresso maker from Amsterdam and served in custom-designed cups by Heath Ceramics. The Coffee Bar will also serve New Orleans–style iced coffee, hot chocolate, tea, apple juice, lemonade, and bottled water. The Coffee Bar will also feature products from other local vendors, including milk from Clover Organic Farms, chocolate from Rechuitti chocolate, and Humphry Slocombe ice cream.

The Rooftop Garden Blue Bottle Coffee Bar will be open daily (except Wednesdays) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and open late on Thursdays until 8 p.m. in the summer. During the museum's winter hours (Labor day through Memorial Day), the bar will open at 11 a.m.
