Rumble: Groundbreaking First Annual Contemporary Art Fair in Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, CA.- Rumble Art debuted this January in conjunction with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival as the groundbreaking first annual contemporary art fair in Santa Barbara. The fair brought over 3,000 visitors with 500 alone on opening night as most of the artists were in attendance for scintillating open discussions amongst the spread of live jazz, local food and wine, and international faces.

With artists from New York to San Francisco and Macedonia to Buenos Aires, there was a strong showing of emerging young artists well represented through all media including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, film, and digital multi-media. Highlights of the fair included Igor Josifov, a Macedonian performance artist who uses his body to comment on such issues as identity, death, and loss, and Clinton K. Hollister, a Santa Barbara artist whose political photographs include imagery from his extensive travels from Kenya to Egypt to Fiji combined with first-hand images of New Orleans post-Katrina as he attended Tulane University. Rumble also included Benjamin Anderson, a classically trained artist who has shown work internationally, and whose commissions and portraits have been widely recognized and acclaimed.

The founders of Rumble Art collectively believe that art has the capability to foster ideas and promote social change, and although there remains a strong focus on bringing international contemporary art to Santa Barbara, Rumble Art consistently promotes new, young local artists who are creating names in the art world. Rumble Art donated a portion of proceeds to a local non-profit organization- The Unity Shoppe- in order to allocate appropriate funds to victims of wild fires in the area and another portion was donated to Doctors without Borders in South America.

Rumble Art is currently developing the sophomore Rumble and seeking artist submissions for January 2010. Please contact info@rumbleart.com for further inquiries or look at the official website: www.rumbleart.com
