LONDON.- Five artists from the Prince’s Drawing School who worked as artists in residence at Kensington Palace over the last year will be exhibiting at Thomas Williams Fine Art on Bond Street this autumn. Jennifer Blake, Perienne Christian, Amelia Power, Daniel Preece and Pippa Ridley will show a series of paintings and drawings, many of which depict scenes in and around the Palace.

The Curatorial Board of the Prince’s Drawing School selected these five outstanding students for the residency and is supporting this exhibition with the aim of bringing their work to the public’s attention. Some of the artists already have established careers, but have taken the opportunity to study with their fellows in the special environment of Kensington Palace in order to exchange and share ideas, and to enjoy the challenge of working together. The result has been a body of paintings that sometimes refers directly to their particular surroundings and sometimes to innovative collaborations with their peers.

All five artists place an emphasis on figurative painting and support their paintings with rigorous training in drawing. The works on show will include still lives, landscapes and works from the imagination in a variety of media. The artists range in age from 26 to 40.

Perienne Christian has most recently been in the public eye as the muse and subject of Lucien Freud’s latest portraits.
