BORDEAUX.- For the third International Painting Festival of Villefranche de Lonchat, FACTURA (the organizing committee of these festivals) has again gathered together an impressive number of works. They will be shown between the 9th and the 25th October in the Château de Mondésir, one of the numerous architectural gems of the region (close to Bordeaux and Bergerac), where history, culture and beautiful landscapes are combined with the names of prestigious wines. The theme of this year is “FRACTURE”. It was chosen because, on many points, the festival 2009 is different from the two previous editions, mainly as regards the locations (no churches and chapels this year, although they still can be visited and admired), the more mundane artistic subjects, and the fact that a majority of the works were executed on paper.

Another difference is the celebrity of the exposed artists : names such as Picasso, Rauschenberg, Bellmer, Appel, Alechinsky, Fontana, Tuymans, Tilson, Spoerri, Folon, Dotremont, Baj, Topor, Bastow, Tajiri, Brunemer, etc., will definitely draw regional, national and international attention. Paintings and sculptures by excellent artists from France and Belgium will complete the exhibition.

By the way, “Fracture” is also a pun, if one considers the name of the organizing association (“Factura”).

For more details and the names of all the artists: http://www.festival-factura.org (in French)

The opening (vernissage) will take place on the 9th October 2009, as from 7 p.m.
