MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA.- Art Deco Weekend, January 17-19, 2003 on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach is inviting artists, antique dealers and vendors of quality crafts with Deco-era flair to participate in the 26th annual festival. A presentation of the Miami Design Preservation League, Art Deco Weekend 2003 is themed “Time Present and Time Past: Resort Hotel Architecture.” A South Florida tradition, the popular street festival annually attracts upwards of 500,000 visitors. Photos of artwork and products to be exhibited must be submitted with the application for consideration by a jury panel. Exhibit categories include vintage, antiques, furniture, artists, and food. This year a Miami Modern Lane is being introduced, representing MiMo (Miami Modern), a celebration of post-war era design and architecture.
Art Deco Weekend, a street festival on Ocean Drive, features big band concerts, guided tours of the National Register Architectural Historic District, an Antique Car Parade and classic automobile exhibit, street theater, sidewalk cafes and specialty food vendors, Deco-era famed personality impersonators, three days of entertainment, antiques and art exhibits.
Art Deco Weekend is a presentation of The Miami Design Preservation League, a non-profit historic preservation and arts organization founded in 1976 to educate the public about Art Deco and protect Miami Beach’s early 20th Century architecture and design.
