Norwich Gallery Accepting Applications for East



NORWICH, NORFOLK, UK.- The Norwich Gallery at the Norwich School of Art & Design is accepting applications for East, the annually open submission exhibition. The closing date for submitting applications is Friday 14 February 2003. There are no rules about who can apply. Please note when applying:

 

• slides should be numbered 1 to 10 in the order you wish them to be seen. In the first round of the selection only 5 slides are viewed. In subsequent rounds all 10 slides are viewed.

 

• Artists working with film/video or sound should submit a 5 minute VHS tape only. Please do not send video documentation of work in other media such as painting or sculpture.

 

• Group applications are treated as a single entry: Norwich Gallery can pay only one fee and cannot provide travel and accommodation for more than two people per group application.

 

In recent years about 25 artists have been selected. Lynda Morris the Norwich Gallery Curator, will negotiate the works to be exhibited, on behalf of the Selectors. We pay an exhibitor’s fee and provide travel and accommodation for the installation week. Where possible overseas artists are encouraged to make work in Norwich. An illustrated catalogue will be published.

 

EASTwork. The selectors will nominate four of the selected artists to make multiples for EAST 2003. The selectors will announce one artist to develop a public art project for EAST 2004 at the opening of EAST 2003. The artist nominated for the public art commission will be ineligible for EAST award. Additional application material for EASTwork is not required.
