MONTCLAIR, NJ.- The Montclair Art Museum (MAM) announces that children and teenage students in its Yard School of Art have been invited to show their works in an exhibition at Boiling Springs Savings Bank in Upper Montclair. The exhibition is currently on view at the bank, located at 122 Watchung Ave., during banking hours: Monday Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A reception, to which the public is invited, takes place on Saturday, January 9, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The show runs through January 15, 2010.
The artworkapproximately 35 works are included in the showrepresents a range of classes and ages, and reflects a variety of subject matter and media. The students have been introduced to various materials and fine art techniques, including drawing, painting, and sculpture. Projects explore the use of line, shape, texture, pattern, and setting. Students are encouraged to express their individual vision in their artwork. Several of the projects are inspired by MAMs groundbreaking exhibition, Cézanne and American Modernism. That show, which has set an attendance record for the Museum, is on view at MAM through January 3, 2010.
Three pieces will be selected to receive awards, and Boiling Springs Savings Bank has generously offered a $50 savings account for each winning artist. All other participants will receive a $10 gift certificate.
