BOSTON, MA.- In a round-up of major developments on the Boston art scene, the Boston Globe recently named the Institute of Contemporary Art “the biggest art story of the decade.”

Following a string of successful shows, such as Anish Kapoor, Past, Present, Future, Tara Donovan, and Shepard Fairey: Supply and Demand, theICA’s latest exhibition, Damián Ortega: Do It Yourself , is on view for just a few more weeks. Called “masterful” (Art Papers), “seductive” (New York Times), and “a kind of magic act” (Boston Globe), it closes Jan. 18th.

In Ortega’s work, objects are pulled apart, suspended, or rearranged into gravity-defying new shapes. A former political cartoonist, Ortega applies an incisive wit to his use of humble materials such as bricks, old tools, Coca-Cola bottles, tortillas, and even a Volkswagen Beetle -- completely disassembled and suspended in the ICA’s galleries.

An influential forum for multi-disciplinary arts, the Institute of Contemporary Art has been at the leading edge of art in Boston for more than 70 years. Like its iconic building on Boston's waterfront, the ICA offers new ways of engaging with the world around us. Its exhibitions and programs provide access to contemporary art, artists, and the creative process, inviting audiences of all ages and backgrounds to participate in the excitement of new art and ideas.
