DETROIT, MICHIGAN.- Jane Speaks Modern Art, an ARTCORE/MIA gallery, presents "Consumption," an art exhibition on view from January 11, 2003 to February 7, 2003. The exhibition is sponsored by the Michigan Institute For the Arts. CONSUMPTION features new work by the graduate art students of MSU: Nitin Dutt, Jeremy Forman, Mara Jevera Fulmer, Paula Stuart-Hankins, Katie Krcmarik, Eunji Koo, April Liu, Dusty Mitchell, Renee Robbins, Lisa Simon, Sarah Slobodzian, Kelly Tegen, Harry Williams, Juan Martinez de Medina, and Meng-Shu You.
Each artist has been invited to interpret the multiple meanings of “Consumption” be it literal, metaphorical, political, or personal. As artists, what will we create for the world to consume? Be prepared for a diverse palate of responses, including works in painting, design, installation sculpture, ceramics, video, and performance! The inventive spirit of the Consumption artists will reveal a wide range of approaches and an exciting exhibition that does not succumb to simple categorization.
Jane Speaks Modern Art is located at 1227 Washington Blvd., Detroit, MI 48226, on the street level of the historic Book Building.
