GLOUCESTER, MA.- The Cape Ann Museum will present an exhibition of paintings by marine artist Peter Vincent. An opening reception for the exhibition will be held in the Museum’s Maritime Wing on Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This program is free and open to the public.

Peter Vincent has lived and worked in Rockport since 1955 and is one of New England’s most highly regarded contemporary marine painters. He received artistic training at the New England School of Art, the School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the DeCordova Museum School. During the early 1970s, Vincent focused on printing, producing etchings and lithographs. During the 1980s, he turned his attention to painting and since that time has received numerous awards including Mystic Seaport Museum’s first annual Thomas Hoyne Award.

Paintings for this special exhibition will be drawn from the collection of the Cape Ann Museum and several private collections.

Funding for this program was made possible through a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency which promotes excellence, access, education and diversity in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences, in order to improve the quality of life for all Massachusetts residents and to contribute to the economic vitality of our communities.
